Jo was a practical soul who wouldn’t have had time for shawls and this scarf would have suited her perfectly – a clear link to her family in her own strong style.

There are links to video tutorials for the Italian 2-colour cast on and cast off that are used included in the pattern. The pattern is fully written with an optional chart that is supplied as a separate file.

Yarn Weight: 4ply

Yarn: The Knitting Goddess, 4ply BFL & Nylon (70% Superwash Bluefaced Leicester, 30% Nylon; 350m/100g), LC: Pearl, 1 skein (332m used), DC: Green, 1 skein (316m used)

Notes on yardage: You could include an extra repeat of the pattern if you wished to make the scarf slightly longer while still using one skein of each colour.

Needles: 4mm circular, 60cm long

Notions: 1 lockable stitch marker, tapestry needle for Italian brioche cast-off and weaving in ends

Tension: 10cm2 = 15 sts x 18 rows over Straight 2-colour Brioche Stitch (Border Rows 1-2) when blocked.

Sizing: One size – Block to 166 cm x 31 cm
