Barragán Shawl KAL

Barragán is The Knitter’s KAL for Autumn 2023!

I was asked to design The Knitter’s Autumn knit-along shawl back in early Spring and was offered a great opportunity to work with McIntosh BFL, a gorgeous British BlueFaced Leicester yarn hand-dyed by James McIntosh.

It’s a four-part KAL and Part One is being published in Issue 194, out on October 4th. Parts Two, Three and Four will be in subsequent issues.

You can pre-order a yarn knit containing 2 x 150g/600m of McIntosh BFL in the colours I used for the shawl, MY Joy and MY Serenity, direct from McIntosh by clicking the link.

To receive the yarn kit in time for the start of the KAL (October 4th), UK pre-orders need to be placed by September 29th.

(Full disclosure: I get a commission on yarn kits sold if you use this link)

Each yarn kit, available exclusively from McIntosh contains 2 x 150g hand-dyed British BFL skeins (600m) and is delivered in plastic free packaging with free UK postage and, if purchased using PayPal Pay in 3, (at McIntosh checkout) the cost can be split over time. Each yarn kit sports a biodegradable yarn band and sew-on fabric label with care instructions.

“A garden must combine the poetic and the mysterious with a feeling of serenity and joy”

Louis Barragán (Architect, 1902 – 1988)

This quote from Louis Barragán inspired me to name the shawl after him, especially considering the names of the yarn colours, MY Serenity and MY Joy, and that one of the stitch patterns I used is called ‘Floral Mesh’ – another garden link.
