Branwen Shawl KAL

First published as a 5-part knitalong in The Knitter in early 2023, Branwen is a generous and cosy lace shawl worked in DK wool.

Yarn

West Yorkshire Spinners Fleece (DK weight, 100% Superwash Bluefaced Leicester, 225m per 100g skein)

  1. A Fellside (1038); 3 x 100g skeins
  2. B Ecru (001); 2 x 100g skeins

Needles

4.5mm (UK 7/US 7), circular needles, 120cm long

1 x 4.5mm (UK 7/US 7) short knitting needle (for Part Five only)

Tension

Open Hourglass Pattern: 15 sts and 24 rows to 10cm using 4.5mm needles, after blocking. 

Little Arrowhead Lace Pattern: 15 sts and 22 rows to 10cm using 4.5mm needles, after blocking.

German Honeycomb Pattern: 15 sts and 22 rows to 10cm using 4.5mm needles, after blocking.

1 repeat of Bird’s Eye Edging Pattern measures 19cm wide at point by 5cm high, using 4.5mm needles, after blocking.

204 cm wingspan x 102 cm depth (excluding points of edging – see schematic below)
