A traditional garter stitch square hap with a central panel, deep border and knitted on edging. ‘Big sister’ to Marianne Half Hap Shawl.

This pattern uses traditional old lace stitch patterns to create a large, spectacular shawl that is sure to get you noticed (It certainly got a lot of attention at Wonderwool Wales 2019!)

Suggested yarn: Triskelion Olwen Fine (100% Extra Fine Falklands Merino, 800m/100g), 3 skeins

Needle size: 3.75 mm (US 5) 120cm circular needle

Gauge: 10cm = 22sts x 38 rows over Central Panel Smiling Diamonds pattern after blocking (18 sts x 36 rows while pins in place)

Notions: Waste yarn for provisional cast on, 3 stitch markers, Tapestry needle for seam

Yardage: 2187 – 2625 yards (2000 – 2400 m) I used approx. 2200m.
