Petulia

Petulia is a two-colour brioche shawl with two versions that have distinct personalities.

One is smaller, symmetrical and more conventional in style, whereas the other is larger, asymmetrical and flamboyant! Both use the same interlocking leaf motif.

Notes

  1. The pattern is provided in both chartedand written form.
  2. There are two versions of this shawl – asmaller symmetrical one and a large asymmetrical one. They both share the same instructions for the first 20 rows (starting on page 3) and then the instructions split (small continues on page 4, large continues from page 8).
  3. Remember each row is worked twice. You must slide sts back to the RH side of the cable in between the LC and DC rows.
  4. Only turn work after a DC row unless pattern says otherwise.
  5. Please note that not all rows of the shawl are charted – refer closely to the written pattern as well.
  6. Many thanks to Nancy Marchant for her work on brioche stitches and terminology, which is used (sometimes abbreviated) here.
