Candles and Cake

Today’s post will be a short one as it’s my birthday! We started celebrating it early by having dinner out last night at Ffarm Hall, (which does have 2 ‘ff’s, thank you auto-correct!) and it was delicious! It’s a rare thing to go out to eat and know that I can choose anything off the menu (the whole hotel is plant-based), rather than searching for the item with ‘ve’ next to it. As you can imagine it took me quite a while to choose what to have! It was also delightful to have a ‘happy birthday’ card placed in the reservation sign on the table – and a candle burning in my ice cream desert too!

We had a wonderful weekend at Stafford Wool Gathering and Sue has relearnt how to skip, which is different from galloping which she does with ease and flair! Several of us even had a galloping race down one of the wide aisles of the venue before the show opened.

On Saturday I taught my Intro to Two-Colour Brioche Knitting workshop and everyone did really well.

My August Moebius Cowl is now available as an individual pattern and I have extended it by adding another size that is one third shorter in circumference and half as tall again as the original. So, both sizes have 18000 sts and will use the same amount of yarn. The pattern is mostly a tutorial in how to work the Rita Buchanan Moebius cast-on method with the bonus of a really cool textured cowl as a result. This second version of the cowl is mostly what I have been knitting for the past few days and it’s also being knitted in Schoppelwolle Zauberball (just a different colour way – see the pic bottom right.

This morning I had an interesting request for a bandana shaped version of my Fiery Dragon Skin Cowl (the style of neck wear that is longer at the front than at the back, but is still a joined piece of knitting that you pull over your head like a cowl). This is a really interesting idea and I will be adding it to my list of patterns to work on. Is it something that other people would be interest in as well? The original Fiery Dragon Skin Cowl is pictured for reference. My mind is already ticking along about how the front shaping might work.

Okay, I said it would be short today, and it is! Have a good week everyone and I hope you get to do something that makes you happy this week. K x
