I’m getting ready to put the new Twisted and Bryn kits together! This is Weku Yarn‘s Bukom DK which is a gorgeous mix of Bluefaced Leicester and Corriedale wool. In order to make the kits I needed photos for the labels:

It’s hard to get good photos of navy and royal purple yarn when they’re in a ball, but there will be real life samples available to look at as well (plus a swatch of the cream and burnt orange). I’m amazed by how different the cream looks when photographed inside (the swatch, all creamy) and outside (the Twisted cowl, much whiter).

Part of tomorrow will see me putting the kits together now that I have the labels sorted. I didn’t want to have a load of anonymous identical looking boxes filled that I then had to reopen to see what was inside!

I’m really pleased with how my short sample of Leaf & Vine has come out. I need to get some photos of me wearing it too as it’s a lovely fit. I knitted this with an undyed light grey 4ply wool from Second City Yarns.

When I have time I’m going to put the pattern into my own house style rather than use Knit Picks’ formatting, and then I can include photos of the shorter version as well as a better photo of the full length version on the cover. I’ll also include metric measurements to go alongside the imperial ones. Currently it’s all in imperial (inches and yards) as it’s formatted by an American company, and many of us are happy with inches, but metres make more sense for yarn length as that is how most of our yarn is labelled!

Another pleasing finish is the natural version of Tiffany in McIntosh‘s BFL 4ply. I can’t wait to see this once it’s finished drying and I can unpin it. There are only 4 yarn ends to weave in which is a bonus and I will have this on display alongside the original rainbow version at the Christmas Wool Show in a couple of weeks.

The Christmas Wool Show is taking place at the National Conference Centre, just off Junction 6 of the M42. There will be 50 exhibitors there and it’s the first time we have been at this event so we are really looking forward to it.

There is a chance for you to get a pair of free tickets for this show! Comment on the blog by Friday if you are interested in winning these tickets. I will also be letting my newsletter subscribers know about this opportunity tomorrow. On Saturday morning I will put all the names of those who have ‘entered’ into a hat and draw a lucky winner!

In more knitting news I have begun Gingerbread and have completed three repeats of the slip stitch pattern so far. It’s taking a while as there are 322 stitches per row at the moment. I think I’m going to do 5 repeats for my size and upwards (I’m knitting size 6 of 10), but I’ll finalise that decision when I get there!

I’ve also started knitting a bright pink gnome. Photos to come later on that as it’s a gift.

Right, that’s all for today. It’s rather photo-heavy I know, but I hope you’ll forgive me. Take care and I hope you get to do something you enjoy this week. Remember to comment if you’d like to be in with a chance of a pair of free tickets to the Christmas Wool Show! K x
